Overview
An american scientific expedition, set up in the North Pole, discovers a UFO crashed in the icecap. Inside is a frozen extra-terrestrial visitor. The scientists take the ice block back to the military station, but the heat brings the alien back to life...

Although the production was achieved by his faithful editor Christian Nyby, The Thing from Another World is, without a doubt, the product of Hawks's creative genius. The director applied his lucid classicism, witnessed in His Girl Friday and Red River, to a brand new genre. In this story, which illustrates the conflict between scientific curiosity and the protection of human kind, Hawks sets up the foundations of science-fiction movie-making, influencing myriad directors, including John Carpenter, who remade it as The Thing in 1982.
