Overview
1. LA X (Part 1)
After the detonation of the hydrogen bomb, Jack's group flashes back to the present. Jacob talks to Hurley and tells him he has to save Sayid. A flash sideways reveals what would have happened if Oceanic flight 815 never crashed and landed safely in Los Angeles.

2. LA X (Part 2)
Jack, Kate, Hurley and Jin take Sayid to the Temple Master, Dogen, who does all that he can to save him. Near the Foot Statue, Ben confronts Locke with a pressing question. At LAX customs, Jack is informed that the coffin carrying his father's body is missing.

3. What Kate Does
Dogen gives Jack dire news about Sayid's condition. After Kate tracks Sawyer down at his old house in the barracks, he makes a stunning personal revelation. In Los Angeles, Kate carjacks a cab and discovers an unlikely passenger aboard.

4. The Substitute
Locke meets with Sawyer and tells him he has the answer to his most pressing question: why is he on the island? In the sideways, Locke is fired but lands a temp job as a substitute teacher.
